The striking green building is shaped like a ship s hull and it is possible to go up onto its sloping stepped roof where you can relax and enjoy a fine views of the surrounding area especially during good weather. The green roof provides a boost to the natural environment of amsterdam and excellent insulation which means lower energy consumption. On the roof of the building you also find the highest city square in the netherlands. Nemo has had a green roof since the summer of 2013. February 12 2020 nemo science museum in amsterdam is located just west of amsterdam central station. Designed by architect renzo piano the spacious rooftop includes a cool outdoor exhibition called energetica a restaurant as well as some smashing views over the oosterdok and amsterdam s historical center.
