Off Door Handle

Some styles of door knob will have another thin slot that requires a small screwdriver to free the cover from the door.

Unscrew and pull off the door handle s cover plates. Some lever handles have hexagonal shaped fasteners that require an allen wrench for removal. Pull the rose cover off the knob body. You should see a tiny slot or hole.

Step 4 insert a large flat wrench or putty knife between the trim panel and door and pop off the plastic retaining plugs. The door handle will now slide off. Use a philips head screwdriver to unscrew them. If you don t see a notch and the cover plate is round try turning the plate counterclockwise to remove it.

Depending on the door handle design the faceplate may be able to slide completely off. Look for these fasteners along the base of the lever then use an allen wrench that fits snugly into the head of the fastener. On a manual window remove the crank handle by using a screwdriver to pull out the bolt. Locate the hole underneath the doorknob shaft.

Remove any screws that are holding the cover plates in place on either side of the door using a flat head screwdriver. On power windows remove the three door handle screws with a screwdriver and pry out the control switch and unplug it. Turn the wrench to remove the fastener then pull the lever away from the door by hand. To remove a door handle without any visible screws start by prying off the cover plate by inserting a flathead screwdriver in the notch on the side of the plate.

Turn each screw holding the knob body. Slide the cosmetic faceplate away from the door. Step 1 unscrew the door lever handle in order to get at the screws that hold the handle to the door you need to expose them by removing the plate that surrounds the lever handle also known as a rose. Insert the edge of your screwdriver under the plates and pry them up gently until they pop off then remove them and set them aside.
