Open the oven door halfway. Put on heavy gloves to protect your hands before you begin working on the door. There is also a good chance that this hinge is wearing out already which is why you should consider replacing it at the same time. Start by applying a pair of gloves and using a slot screwdriver to unlock the tabs or hinge latches on either side of the door.

This is a lot of work to dismantle the door and adding an extra hinge won t break the bank. Turn off the power to the oven by unplugging it from the outlet or at the main breaker. Inspect the springs to see if they are. The springs may be located in the inside of your oven door or they may be attached.

How to remove replace oven door springs 1. Hold onto the sides and pull the door up and off the hinges. Close the door back up until it reaches the broil stop position which is only about 1 4 of the way open. Locate the oven door springs.

You ll feel the door. Make sure that you replace both hinges even if only one has gone. The hinges can now be replaced on the doors. Open the oven door partially to the first stopping point.
