Vw b5 and b5 5 passat 1998 2005. Winters and passats do not mix. I have a 2006 vw passat 3 6 and i pulled the lever inside the car to release the hood adn nothing happened. There are several problems with the b3 b4 passat outer door handles.

Care should be taken on installing as they are a pita to fish out of the door once the door cards are in. When you pull the door handle there is an inner swing handle with a white nub on it directly behind the lock cylinder that is supposed to hit a lever within the door. Hold the interior door handle as if you were going to exit your car then flick the metal latch in the door mechanism up and it will go in the up position. The lever seams loose so in assumeing the cable snapped inside.

It looks like the handle is loose. If the problem is internal you have toremove the inside door panel but this is the least likely problem. I cannot open the driver door from the outside. Check for loose pins then try adjusting the white plastic plunger then try adjusting the 5 5mm nut.
